Designed to maintain an upper pressure level above the fire pump start setting, jockey pumps are intended to provide a means to maintain system pressure in the event of a leak or potential servicing of the sprinkler system. In the case of an emergency event, the sprinkler demand will overcome the output capability of the jockey pump and the fire pump will start. Jockey pumps are not required to be UL listed and overall sizing requirements can vary. NFPA 20 offers a general guideline for jockey pump sizing which can be helpful for initial specification or replacement with no historical data on file of the existing jockey pump. R.T. Stearns stocks an assortment of MTH jockey pumps in various sizes and horsepower ranges.
The one piece polyethylene tanks we provide are most common in residential / 13D applications, however they can also be manifolded together to meet the larger demands of a 13R installation. These tanks are designed for aboveground use only and come in sizes ranging from 25 to 12,000 gallons.
